No, this isn’t a magic trick done with mirrors. These two nearly identical Diamond T Model 201 pickups are owned by cousins Mary Bomgaars and Larry Moir and their spouses. The Diamond T’s eye-catching red color and attractive, car-like styling made Bomgaars and Moir lifelong fans of the marque. Their personal connections to one Model 201 led to its restoration and the purchase and restoration of a twin, whose serial number is a mere four digits higher!

Michigander Scott Domine set out in 2010 to create his Jeep “super truck”—a custom build, but using OEM Jeep, Kaiser, and AMC parts for a product indiscernible from a factory model. Domine’s history and longtime enthusiasm for all things AMC began in high school at age 16, when he drove a 1969 AMX during his junior and senior years. In addition to that AMX, he currently has a 1972 Javelin, a 1976 Pacer, and our featured 1976 Jeep J-10 in his garage.

When Terry Drury first saw our featured blue 1967 Dodge D-100 in Minden, Nebraska, in 1997, he did not believe it was stock. “That is a really unusual interior,” he thought. “Someone must have customized it and added the bucket seats and center console.” Little did he realize that he was looking at a Custom Sports Special (or CSS)—one of the most collectible trucks Dodge ever produced.

The fifth generation of Ford’s F-series ran from model year 1967 through 1972, and the company continued to emphasize that its light-duty pickups “work like trucks … ride like cars.” Its F-100, F-250, and F-350 did not trade comfort for capability, though, with maximum gross vehicle weight ratings of 5,000, 7,500, and 10,000 pounds, respectively.
